Opportunities for experienced Diesel Mechanics are required for permanent employment based in Ladysmith.

Requirements

• Physically fit candidates with good attention to detail for the position of Diesel Mechanic.
• Candidates will need to be highly organized and communicate effectively.
• These hybrid positions may require travel to other company locations, workshops and depots etc.

Responsibilities

• Performing preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, diesel powered fridge units and generators by conducting inspections to identify damages or worn components
• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Checking vehicle lighting, charging and starting systems
• Test driving vehicles to gauge performance and fuel consumption
• Running diagnostic tests on all vehicle systems, steering system, suspension system (pneumatic and mechanical) braking system (Pneumatic, hydro-pneumatic and hydraulic brakes)
• Maintaining a parts inventory
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the workshop (housekeeping)
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
• Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist
• Attending to breakdowns
