Role Description

The Digital Marketing Intern supports the organization’s communications, marketing, and member engagement efforts across digital platforms. This role assists with social media management, website updates, while helping maintain membership and outreach databases.

This internship is ideal for someone interested in digital marketing, nonprofit communications, public health, or mission-driven brand strategy who wants hands-on experience in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Content Management

  • Draft, schedule, and publish social media content across platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube)
  • Monitor engagement, comments, and messages; flag priority responses
  • Track basic social media metrics and prepare performance summaries

Website Updates

  • Update website content, events, and announcements using WordPress platform
  • Coordinate with external website vendor to achieve necessary updates

Internal Communications & Membership Engagement

  • Support newsletters, announcements, and staff communications
  • Work with the Membership Project Manager to maintain and update membership database
  • Pull necessary data and compile membership reports
  • Assist with outreach to members, partners, and stakeholders

Administrative & Project Support

  • Organize digital assets and communications files
  • Support campaign planning and communications calendars
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in marketing, communications, public health, health communication, health education or related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms
  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Preferred

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Express, or similar design tools
  • Experience with website CMS (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, Wix)
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
  • Interest in mission-driven or nonprofit communications
  • Experience with CRM or database tools
