Your Role at Sephora
Ready for a career glow up? As Director of Engineering – Digital Experiences, you'll be leading Sephora's scaled personalization ecosystem and driving the transition of agentic commerce from pilot to production. The work you do will impact beauty, as you architect innovative, AI‑driven digital experiences that shape how millions of clients discover, engage with, and shop for beauty. You'll manage a high‑performing, inclusive engineering team that's united in beauty, supported by those who are equally passionate about delivering cutting‑edge, personalized digital experiences.
What You'll Do
- Lead Personalization & Agentic Commerce. Expand personalization coverage, accuracy, and real‑time decisioning across all digital touchpoints while scaling AI‑driven agentic commerce experiences, including assistants, guided selling, and contextual recommendations.
- Architect Scalable Solutions. Design and deliver modular, real‑time systems using Azure, React, GraphQL, and Databricks, ensuring technical excellence and production reliability.
- Partner Cross‑Functionally. Collaborate closely with Product, AI/ML, GenAI, and Marketing teams to improve inference quality, model performance, and enable agentic use cases across customer journeys.
- Drive AI‑Native Engineering Practices. Champion the adoption of AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude Code, fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation.
- Own Business Impact. Drive measurable outcomes across engagement, conversion, average order value (AOV), personalization accuracy, and experimentation velocity.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ Years of Engineering Experience. Proven leadership in building and scaling digital platforms, with deep expertise in personalization, recommendation systems, or data‑driven customer experiences.
- Technical Expertise. Hands‑on proficiency with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript, GraphQL), cloud‑native architectures, event‑driven systems, real‑time data pipelines, and AI/ML‑enabled solutions such as recommendation engines or GenAI‑powered experiences.
- AI & GenAI Knowledge. Experience working with AI/ML teams and meaningful exposure to GenAI, large language models (LLMs), or agent‑based systems, including hands‑on use of AI‑assisted development tools.
- Leadership & Culture Building. A demonstrated ability to build and lead inclusive, high‑performing teams with a strong focus on belonging, diverse perspectives, and a startup mindset that balances speed, innovation, and scalability.
- Strategic Vision. The ability to operate as both a hands‑on solution engineering leader and a strategic partner, bridging architecture, team leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver measurable business impact.
What You'll Get
- The annual base salary range for this position is $253,440.00 – $281,600.00. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non‑discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
- Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses. This job will be posted for a minimum of three days.
