About This Role
Lockheed Martin's corporate Mission Development & Integration organization is seeking a strong and dynamic leader with great people and technical skills to be our next Director of Mission Capabilities. This high-octane leader will bring together the best Lockheed Martin has to offer across all domains through Mission Engineering and Integration Activities (MEIA). This leader will draw on many years of experience executing in, and leading, distributed teams that understand advanced technologies, capabilities and CONOPs across all domains for threat systems and classified US systems.
Responsibilities
- Understanding, conveying and leading teams focused on all domain intelligence, mission gap analysis, constructive modeling, synergizing technologies, and novel concepts across varying company organizations.
- The position, reporting to the Vice President of Mission Development & Integration, is the executive responsible for bridging operational needs to technology needs and connecting to business investments and pursuits.
- Developing and implementing the enterprise vision and priorities for operations analysis (OA), leading a cross-business area community of practice in Engineering and Technology-funded annual campaigns.
- Leading an enterprise focus on model-based engineering for the evaluation of current and future architectures that enable development of new kill chains.
- Mission Capabilities work supports LM decisions on priorities and investments in new and improved mission solutions, technology development, and customer engagement.
- The role will also require close cooperation with the corporate strategy and technology programs, working closely with executives leading capability development and demonstration programs.
- The candidate will collaborate across LM with leaders, engineers, strategy and business development teams and LM Government Affairs, as well as with senior government officials within the DoD, Intelligence Communities, and other agencies.
Role Requirements
The role requires thought leadership and understanding of evolving technology, operations and mission analysis, systems engineering, field demonstrations, strategic planning, and all-domain operational architectures.
A competitive candidate will be a gifted orator that can build and deliver executive briefs that clearly articulate problems and solutions in a succinct manner to inform the CEO, COO, and other senior staff. Candidates should also have excellent peer leadership skills, as well as an understanding of change management.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline.
- Significant experience within Aerospace and Defense.
- Demonstrated leadership experience of diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to develop plans, schedules, cost estimates, and risk assessments for complex technical activities
- Experience translating business strategy into value creation.
- Excellent oral, written, communication and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to interface and communicate with impact with senior company executives and with leaders in customer and partner organizations.
- Proven ability to work across organizations and functions.
- Active Top Secret with ability to obtain TS/SCI
Desired Skills
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Special Access Program (SAP) experience
- Familiarity with LM needs and customer expectations
- Demonstrated ability to create a vision, build a team, and execute on that vision to create business value
- Demonstrated understanding of OA capability, infrastructure and talent requirements
- Demonstrated familiarity with complex systems integration programs
- Demonstrated performance in development or management of discriminating technical capabilities
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience, such as leading diverse and dynamic multi-discipline engineering teams
Location & Work Arrangement
Location preferences for this role are Crystal City (Arlington VA), Herndon VA or Bethesda MD; alternative locations may be considered if there is ready access to the appropriate classified spaces and networks.
This position is hybrid and requires somewhat regular travel (25-40%), especially if located outside the Arlington/Bethesda area.
Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
