Are you a senior engineering leader with deep expertise in medium and low voltage power distribution, and a strong track record in the data center market?

My client is looking for a Director of Application Engineering to lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering accurate, competitive, and scalable technical solutions across complex electrical infrastructure projects.

This is a key leadership role driving engineering execution, standardisation, and performance—ensuring high-quality solutions aligned with customer needs, operational capability, and commercial objectives.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and develop a team of Application Engineers, driving technical excellence and accountability
• Oversee technical proposals, quotations, and engineered solutions across MV & LV equipment
• Support delivery of switchgear, e-houses, PDUs, RPPs, and power distribution solutions
• Optimise processes to improve quote speed, accuracy, and consistency
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product, operations, and manufacturing teams
• Drive configurator and standardisation strategies to improve scalability
• Manage team capacity, workload, and resource planning
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex or high-risk opportunities
• Support new product introduction, cost reduction, and market expansion initiatives

What They’re Looking For:

• Strong background in Medium Voltage Switchgear (ESSENTIAL)
• Proven experience in the Data Center market (hyperscale, colo, or enterprise)
• 10+ years in power distribution or electrical equipment environments
• Leadership experience within application engineering or technical teams
• Experience in engineered-to-order (ETO) environments and quotation processes
• Strong knowledge of MV & LV systems, codes, and standards
• Ability to drive process improvement and organisational change
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
