Job Description
This is an exciting role for a biotech company that works with organic waste to make eco-friendly plastics to use within the pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing industry.
This company has already made significant waves in the industry, having secured substantial investment from globally respected investors.
As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking a Director, Downstream Process Development responsible for leading the charge on process engineering and scaling up downstream processes crucial to the production of biopolymers.
Responsibilities
- Lead R&D projects relating to the separation, concentration, dewatering, purification and drying of intracellular biopolymers.
- Lead process engineering & scale-up of downstream processes, including the design of demonstration and industrial-scale process systems.
- Support R&D projects involved in the recovery of organic solvents.
- Evaluate and select process equipment such as centrifuges, dryers, ultrafiltration membrane systems, liquid-liquid separators, and mixers, etc.
- Ensure all designs meet regulatory standards and best engineering design practices.
Requirements
- P.Eng and/or Master’s in Chemical or Biochemical Process Engineering
- More than 10 years’ experience specifically in biotech or downstream industrial biotechnology.
- Experience with intracellular bio-polymer recovery.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills from bench to industrial scale.
- Able to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Investigative mind inclined toward developing practical solutions to real-world problems.
