About

We are seeking an experienced Director of Service & Automation to lead and scale a high-performing service operations organization focused on automation, customer success, operational excellence, and long-term business growth. This senior leadership role will oversee service operations, sales, financial performance, workforce utilization, customer retention, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business unit.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in service operations, automation, field services, P&L management, and customer relationship management within industrial, automation, mechanical, or technical service environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute annual business plans focused on revenue growth, profitability, recurring revenue, and customer retention
  • Oversee Service & Automation operations, service sales, maintenance agreements, and customer account growth
  • Manage full P&L responsibilities including forecasting, budgeting, margins, billing, utilization, and financial performance
  • Develop KPIs, reporting dashboards, and operational performance metrics
  • Drive workforce planning, technician utilization, operational efficiency, and field productivity
  • Lead pricing strategies, contract renewals, maintenance agreement retention, and profitability initiatives
  • Build strong customer relationships and ensure high levels of service quality and customer satisfaction
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, finance, and leadership teams
  • Develop and mentor service managers, technicians, and operational leaders
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and system/process enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs, field procedures, and operational standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong leadership experience managing service operations or automation-focused business units
  • Proven experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, and operational management
  • Experience leading field service, maintenance, automation, or technical service teams
  • Strong customer relationship management and account growth experience
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency, workforce utilization, and profitability
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with KPIs, reporting systems, and operational dashboards

Preferred Background

  • Industrial automation, controls, HVAC, mechanical services, manufacturing, or technical service industry experience
  • Experience managing recurring revenue/service contract businesses
  • Experience leading multi-site or large field service organizations
  • Continuous improvement, operational excellence, or process optimization experience
