About

The Director of Engineering of Amphenol Fiber Optic Products is a global position that reports to the General Manager. The role is responsible for developing the technology strategy, driving the technology roadmap and overseeing product engineering operations. Leading a team of global engineers, they plan and direct all aspects of engineering activities and projects, develop efficient and effective engineering procedures and ensure the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the executive team to develop a technology strategy and roadmap that meets the company strategic goals and objectives.
• Engage with customers, sales team and PLM, to develop and design new products from concept, to testing, to production.
• Ensure feasibility of a project opportunity.
• Actively involved in developing new products, identifying requirements and setting timelines.
• Ensure all designs meet specifications and standards, reliability requirements, cost and budget goals, schedule commitments, and other primary project objectives.
• Plan and coordinate work for the engineering staff, and ensure they meet goals and objectives.
• Lead the engineering organization, which includes recruiting, developing, mentoring and training engineering staff as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering required, Master preferred
• At least five years of engineering leadership experience, with demonstrated experience in project management, product design and development.
• Global experience highly desired.
• Experience working in Fiber Optic and Copper Cable assembly required.
• Extensive experience with fiber optic technologies, product development and market.
• Leadership abilities with a strategic mind
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven managerial and supervisory skills of a global team
• Ability to review, understand and compile customer supplied information to assess the feasibility of a project opportunity.
• Travel 25%
