Position Overview

The Product Manager is responsible for defining the product vision, strategy, and lifecycle for Terra Sonic’s sonic drilling systems and related components. This role works closely with engineering, operations, sales, marketing, and field service teams to translate customer needs and market insights into high‑impact product solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical mindset, experience in industrial or heavy-equipment product development, and the ability to bridge business strategy with engineering execution.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Develop and own the product roadmap aligned with company goals and market needs.
  • Conduct competitive analysis, market research, and voice‑of‑customer feedback to identify opportunities for innovation and product improvement.
  • Define product positioning and value propositions for new and existing products.
  • Develop NPV, ROI, resource requirements, and metrics to prioritize company project investment.

Product Development Leadership

  • Work with engineering to translate requirements into specifications, features, and project plans.
  • Oversee development from concept through prototype, testing, validation, and production launch.
  • Prioritize features based on customer value, business objectives, and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate on design reviews and ensure product requirements are clearly documented and met.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales to understand customer pain points and support key account strategies.
  • Align with Marketing on go‑to‑market activities, product messaging, and launch plans.
  • Work with Operations and Supply Chain to improve manufacturability, cost, quality, and lead time.
  • Support Field Service with product training, technical materials, and issue resolution.

Lifecycle Management

  • Monitor product performance, reliability, and customer experience to drive continuous improvements.
  • Lead engineering change requests (ECR/ECO), ensuring updates are communicated and implemented effectively.
  • Evaluate end‑of‑life decisions, replacement strategies, and transitions for older product lines.

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Serve as the product expert during customer meetings, demonstrations, and industry events.
  • Collect field insights, track usage patterns, and identify emerging trends in drilling, sampling, and subsurface technology.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, environmental firms, geotechnical partners, and global distributors.

Travel up to 25% of time

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Product Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, engineering, or technical product leadership.
  • Background in industrial equipment, machinery, drilling systems, or related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of product development processes and engineering fundamentals.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience managing technical products with complex mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical components.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or an MBA.
  • Experience with sonic drilling, geotechnical equipment, or subsurface technologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools, ERP systems, and product lifecycle management platforms.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methods.
