About the role
Our company is a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced electro-mechanical products, including robotics, automation, pumps, heating solutions, lighting, water chemistry management, and energy-efficient technologies. We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to join their team near Warwick, RI, as the Director of Hardware Engineering. This critical leadership role is responsible for setting the strategy, architecture, and execution of next-generation electronic and mechanical hardware platforms.
The position plays a key role in bridging executive business objectives with technical delivery, driving innovation from concept through to high-volume production while building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related technical field.
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in electronic product development, with strong ability and desire to be hands-on when needed.
- 5+ years of proven success leading and developing engineering teams, with a hands-on leadership style that includes personally contributing to schematic capture, hardware architecture, and technical problem-solving as needed.
- Deep recent experience in hardware-firmware interactions and embedded systems.
- Strong technical proficiency in board-level and chip-level design, circuit simulation, PCB layout, and electronics packaging (including thermal management, enclosures, wiring, and interconnects).
- Demonstrated experience developing complex electromechanical systems with sensors and integration challenges, ideally in consumer electronics or similar sensor-rich hardware products.
- Proficiency with key design tools, including Altium (for schematic capture and PCB layout) and SolidWorks.
- Experience working with enterprise tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or similar PLM/supply chain systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical teams and executive audiences.
- Proven ability to manage mixed-discipline teams (primarily electrical engineering, with mechanical/systems packaging elements).
