Our client is a high-volume manufacturer seeking a strategic, hands-on leader to drive operational excellence through advanced manufacturing innovation. This key leadership role is responsible for designing and developing machinery, equipment, and processes to optimize operations across multiple facilities and product lines, fueling our continued growth.
Position Summary
As Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, you will partner closely with Operations, Design, Sales, and cross-functional teams to deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost. You will own the company’s manufacturing footprint strategy, lead the implementation of new equipment, automation, and cutting-edge technologies, and ensure seamless integration of new product development and engineering changes into production.
Essential Functions
- Partner with Operations to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost through advanced manufacturing methods to drive operational excellence in accordance with our Production System.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive manufacturing footprint strategy, including a clear roadmap for new equipment, automation, systems, and manufacturing technologies.
- Define and oversee the process for implementing New Product Development and Engineering Changes across all manufacturing facilities.
- Build and evolve the organizational structure of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering department to maximize resources and achieve strategic goals.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and governance for manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Collaborate with design, sales, and operations teams to create manufacturing plans for new products that meet aggressive cost and quality targets.
- Estimate resource requirements and assign workloads to meet evolving business needs.
- Ensure the department consistently delivers projects on time and within budget.
- Manage the full Capital Expenditure and Large Expense process and budget.
- Interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of management experience, including direct responsibility for budget management and performance appraisals.
- Proven ability to develop detailed plans, timelines, and roadmaps.
- Exceptional verbal and written cross-functional communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, MRP/ERP business software, and SolidWorks.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record (travel required).
