We are looking for a Director of Product Design to build and lead our Product Design department.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead Tango's product design function — the first dedicated design team in company history — defining team structure, culture, processes, and standards from the ground up.
- Build, hire, and develop a team of product designers; own the full talent lifecycle from hiring rubric through career development and performance management.
- Define and communicate a design vision and strategy aligned with company objectives and the product roadmap across Retail, Corporate, and Energy & Sustainability segments.
- Lead UX modernization of mature, legacy enterprise products used by diverse personas across real estate, facilities, sustainability, and workplace teams — balancing the complexity of existing workflows with meaningful improvements to usability, time‑to‑value, and customer satisfaction.
- Own the design system roadmap from initial audit through team adoption, partnering with Engineering to increase delivery speed and cross‑product consistency.
- Establish and maintain a continuous discovery process — generative research, usability testing, and design experiments — to validate decisions and measure impact.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data to plan, prioritize, and deliver high‑quality, user‑centered experiences on predictable timelines.
- Present design rationale and investment cases to executive stakeholders; influence product and business decisions through design evidence.
- Build and run an AI‑assisted design and research process — using AI tooling to accelerate discovery synthesis, design iteration, and cross‑team documentation from day one; establish this as the team's operating standard as the function grows.
- Define the design language for Tango's intelligence‑first platform — establishing UX patterns for AI‑assisted workflows, agent‑generated surfaces, and human‑in‑the‑loop decision experiences.
About You
Leadership & Experience
- 8+ years in product design, with at least 3 years leading a design team in a fast‑paced B2B SaaS environment.
- Proven ability to build, scale, and inspire high‑performing design teams grounded in craft, feedback, and measurable outcomes.
- Strong track record of driving design quality, cross‑functional collaboration, and operational effectiveness across product and engineering.
- Experience establishing design processes, culture, and systems in organizations without existing design infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
Design Expertise
- Deep experience designing complex enterprise workflows for multiple user types across data‑rich, multi‑step products.
- Experience with internationalized products supporting multiple languages and regional markets is a plus.
- Strong background in end‑to‑end product design: UX research, interaction design, visual design, and design systems.
- Familiarity with modern design practices: continuous discovery, usability testing, design sprints, and data‑driven iteration.
- Proficiency in Figma and modern design and prototyping tooling.
- Fluency with AI tools in the design workflow — research synthesis, design generation, documentation — and a developing point of view on designing for AI‑assisted and agentic product experiences.
What We Offer
- Competitive Compensation – We recognize and reward your contributions with a salary package that reflects your value.
- Comprehensive Benefits – Including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, and generous paid time off to support your well‑being.
- Flexible Work Environment – Whether remote, hybrid, or in‑office, we support work arrangements that promote productivity and balance.
