About the Role
As the Director of Product Led Growth Marketing, you will spearhead a dynamic team responsible for shaping and enhancing Confluent's product-led growth strategy from initial acquisition to high-value customer conversion.
Your leadership will be pivotal as you collaborate with teams across Product, Marketing, Sales, Data Science, and Engineering to enhance the quality of signups, improve funnel conversion rates, and maximize revenue generation. This involves creating measurement frameworks, directing experimentation initiatives, optimizing digital acquisition channels—including emerging strategies like answer engine optimization (AEO)—and translating performance data into impactful investment strategies. Your efforts will be crucial in reinforcing product-led acquisition and establishing PLG as a sustainable and effective growth engine for Confluent.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Optimize Growth Strategy: Define and refine the PLG growth strategy across the entire funnel—from acquisition to high-value conversion—balancing efficiency and quality while collaborating with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Data Science teams.
- Build and Lead a High-Performance Growth Team: Hire, mentor, and manage a diverse team of growth marketers and analysts. Cultivate a culture of rapid experimentation, accountability, and continuous learning, aligning individual progress with Confluent's strategic objectives.
- Enhance Digital Marketing and Channel Performance: Assess various marketing channels, including paid and organic strategies, to make data-driven investment decisions. Implement and scale successful programs across traditional and emerging channels like AEO.
- Establish Measurement Frameworks and Discipline: Develop metrics and analytical frameworks to evaluate channel performance, funnel dynamics, and customer journeys; lead a structured testing agenda to foster learning and drive incremental conversion improvements.
- Strengthen Product-Led Sales Motion: Optimize the transition from product-led users to sales-assisted conversion; collaborate closely with Sales and Product on go-to-market strategies, qualification, and feedback loops, ensuring synergy in product launches and marketing initiatives.
- Innovate PLG with AI and Automation: Work with Product and Engineering to weave AI-driven personalization and intelligent automation into growth strategies, positioning Confluent to leverage evolving AI trends and developer preferences.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in product management, growth marketing, growth strategy, or analytics with a focus on product-led growth, funnel optimization, and revenue impact, including 2+ years in a leadership role managing proficient teams.
- Deep expertise in growth marketing and product-led growth principles, encompassing acquisition strategies, digital marketing channels, funnel analysis, lifecycle optimization, experimental design, and industry-standard PLG tools and workflows.
- Exceptional analytical skills and a strategic mindset, adept at diagnosing complex funnel challenges and converting analysis into actionable decisions. Proficiency in SQL required, with experience in analytics tools such as Hex, Tableau, Amplitude, or BigQuery desirable.
- Background in enterprise software or SaaS, showcasing collaborative skills across Product, Marketing, Sales, and Data Science, with strong communication capabilities tailored for both technical and executive stakeholders.
- A proactive ownership mindset with a history of advancing solutions in dynamic environments; a proven leader capable of guiding teams toward exceptional outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with developer tools, cloud/data infrastructure, and usage-based business models.
- Knowledge of AI-driven growth tactics and integration of intelligent systems into marketing and product-led strategies.
- A history of creating and refining product-to-sales handoff processes and hybrid conversion funnels in fast-growing B2B SaaS environments.
- Expertise in sophisticated experimental methodologies and designing robust measurement frameworks for metrics like attribution and lifetime value.
