Overall Purpose
The Director of Site Reliability Engineering is a key role dedicated to maintaining the reliability of EWS applications by leading the Site Reliability team. This team equips our first responders with essential tools and information while managing high-priority incidents and spearheading Root Cause Analyses to prevent future occurrences.
Essential Functions
- Lead a top-performing team of Site Reliability Engineers providing 24/7 support for critical incidents.
- Develop, manage, and oversee tools that ensure observability, monitoring, and alerting for all EWS products.
- Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to ensure proper instrumentation and measurement of applications.
- Implement changes through pipelines and code.
- Identify, champion, and adopt reliability patterns for EWS applications.
- Manage and enhance the Incident Management Program, including incident handling and the Root Cause Analyses process.
- Oversee the Change Management function, identifying and mitigating risks for changes in critical environments.
- Support risk management initiatives to safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 10+ years of related experience, with at least 7 years in management roles overseeing systems support or banking operations.
- Proven success in developing and retaining engaged, high-performing teams aligned with business objectives.
- Experience establishing and integrating Site Reliability principles in a modern organization.
- Experience leading 24/7 on-call engineering teams.
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools like GitLab, JIRA, Terraform, Vault, Grafana, PagerDuty, AppDynamics, etc.
- Background and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional education and/or experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Early Warning fosters a collaborative office environment. Working conditions generally involve a standard office setup, predominately sedentary, requiring the use of a computer for extended periods. Some tasks may involve occasional standing, walking, or reaching, and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally is required. Effective communication with clients and colleagues is essential.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States at the date of hire.
Compensation
The base pay for this position is as follows:
- Phoenix, AZ: $194,000 - $237,000
- San Francisco, CA: $206,000 - $258,000
Successful candidates may also be eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
