About the role

Job Purpose

Lead the Bank’s product and technology engineering function by establishing robust engineering frameworks for web, mobile, back-end, and API development. Drive the adoption of modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, cloud-native architectures, and container orchestration. Champion engineering excellence across delivery teams, lead the chapter of product and technology engineers, and ensure talent development, capacity planning, and workforce management align with the Bank’s strategic technology roadmap.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the chapter of product and technology engineers; foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
  • Establish and govern engineering standards, coding practices, design patterns, and architectural blueprints across web, mobile, back-end, and API layers.
  • Partner with the Director, IT Architecture & Engineering to translate architectural vision into executable engineering strategies.
  • Drive talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning; manage performance reviews, career development, and workforce capacity for all direct and indirect reports.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain engineering frameworks and reference architectures for front-end (web/mobile), back-end services, and API ecosystems using industry best practices.
  • Own the CI/CD strategy end-to-end – design, implement, and continuously improve automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to accelerate time-to-market.
  • Establish and govern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure repeatable, auditable, and version-controlled infrastructure provisioning.
  • Drive the Bank’s cloud adoption strategy across private and public cloud environments; define landing zones, workload migration paths, and cloud-native development standards.
  • Lead Kubernetes adoption and container orchestration strategy; define standards for containerized workloads, service mesh, observability, and auto-scaling.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools that enhance engineering productivity, code quality, and platform resilience.

Skills

Operational Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day engineering delivery across product squads.
  • Manage engineering KPIs (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, mean time to recovery) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with security, risk, and compliance teams to embed DevSecOps practices into the engineering lifecycle.
  • Manage vendor relationships for engineering tools, cloud platforms, and third-party services; optimize licensing and cost allocation.
  • Oversee HR-related functions for the engineering chapter including onboarding, training programs, leave management, and adherence to Bank HR policies.
