Position
We are looking for a:
Director of Development (m/f/d)
As Director of Development (m/f/d), you will have overall responsibility for the development and further enhancement of the product portfolio in the field of medical IT and hardware solutions. You will lead an interdisciplinary team of approximately 15 employees from the areas of development, software, project management, product management, and technical documentation, and you will be responsible for the entire end-to-end product development process. You will ensure compliance with deadlines, quality, and budget targets and drive the continuous improvement of processes, tools, and methods. In close collaboration with management and adjacent areas such as sales, production, and QM/RA, you will ensure the efficient, cross-departmental implementation of innovative and high-quality products.

Responsibilities
Product & System Responsibility
- Responsibility for the development of integrated hardware/software system solutions
- Management of the entire end-to-end product development process
- Further development of product and technology strategy (including platform and architecture decisions)
- Responsibility for time-to-market, quality, and budget in the development area
- Ensuring regulatory requirements (MedTech)
- Risk management and prioritization of development projects
- Further development of software and system architecture
- Collaboration with international teams within the group
- Identification of new technologies and innovation drivers
Leadership & Organization
- Professional and disciplinary leadership of an interdisciplinary team of 15 employees from development, software, product management, and technical documentation
- Group-wide coordination of the R&D roadmap
- Further development of the organization towards scalability, efficiency, and clear role structures
- Building a performance-oriented and trusting team culture
Processes, Methods & Ecosystem
- Introduction and establishment of structured development processes (e.g., Stage/Toll-Gate) within the R&D process landscape
- Further development of tools, methods, and standards in product development
- Ensuring efficient development workflows and shortened time-to-market
- Support of modern project controlling
Interface Management
- Close collaboration with Sales, Production, QM/RA, and Service
- Translation of market and customer requirements into product and development roadmaps
- Management of cross-departmental collaboration along the value chain
Required Qualifications
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Engineering, Medical Technology, or comparable field
- Several years of experience in the development of technical products (hardware and software)
- Several years of leadership experience in a comparable role
- Experience in leading mixed teams
- In-depth experience in the end-to-end product development process
- Experience in introducing and optimizing structured development processes (e.g., Stage/Toll-Gate, agile methods)
- Good understanding of embedded systems
- Good knowledge in product management and product strategy
- Understanding of software architectures and digital business models
- Experience with regulatory requirements (ideally Medical Technology DIN 60601, ISO 13485)
- Very good German and English language skills
