About the role
Duties
- You will be responsible for ensuring all technical activities related to the NSWCPD mission are conducted with sound engineering practices and with proper controls and management for surface ship, carrier, submarine and vehicle machinery systems.
- You will serve as an advocate for NSWCPD engineering interests at PAEs, NAVSEA and across the Warfare Centers for all NSWCPD's project/product reviews to ensure alignment with technical authority.
- You will be responsible for oversight and technical guidance for the management of the NSWCPD SUBSAFE Program as well as coordinate with the Quality Manager on assuring the quality of our technical products and engineering processes.
- You will provide authoritative technical advice to NSWCPD Technical Director in addition to formulating and communicating Command technical priorities and strategies to include common approaches for risk assessment, analysis and reporting of status.
- You will provide expert advice on strong science and technology background in ship and ship systems design technology and machinery system to Fleet Commander, Systems Commands, academia, and others.
- You will serve as Technical Warrant Holder as the NSWC Philadelphia Waterfront CHENG, and participate in the Waterfront CHENG Community of Interest/Council of CHENGs representing NSWC Philadelphia.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition
Functional Area
and category assigned to the position is required within established category time frames.
- This position is a designated Critical Acquisition Position (CAP). You must sign a three-year tenure agreement prior to assuming the position unless a tenure waiver is approved.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR .
