Our client is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor for a hybrid position in Pittsburgh, PA.
Supervisory engineering roles in electric utility distribution oversee teams responsible for the design and delivery of low- and medium-voltage systems (typically up to 25 kV) outside substation boundaries. These positions ensure compliance with company standards, national codes (e.g., NESC, FCC), and regulatory requirements while managing projects for new business, system improvements, maintenance, and third-party make-ready work.
Responsibilities
- Directing engineering design practices, reviewing estimates and bills of material, ensuring proper permitting, and coordinating with construction teams and external contractors.
- Provide technical guidance, maintain system reliability, and may participate in regulatory or legal proceedings.
- Typical design scope includes overhead and underground distribution systems, customer service connections, vault and duct bank design, pole loading analysis, and system betterment initiatives.
- Key differentiators include leadership of engineering staff, oversight of complex, compliance-driven projects, and accountability for infrastructure integrity across large T&D networks.
