Leading Gold mining firm based in Zimbabwe seeks a QUALIFIED and highly experienced Drill & Blast Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of all related staff and sub-contractors with all related H.R Functions.
• Utilise geological and geotechnical data, mine plans and survey info to develop blast designs and electronic shot timing.
• Assess and optimise blasting parameters.
• Collect and interpret technical data i.e. blast induced vibration
• Manage blasting optimization workshops
• Manage blasting sign off procedures
• Develop budgets and operational cost reviews
• Manage all SHEQ functions - ensuring adherence to all laws and regulations (large part of the role)
• Oversee all explosives handling operations
• Supervision of sub-contractors and suppliers (taking corrective action where necessary, managing contractor risks.
• Manage equipment utilisation
• Review and approve contractor or survey dept generated drill and blast plans, hole design, blast patterns, timing sequences etc.
• Manage all related equipment and stocks of explosives etc. ensuring adequate levels of stock, safe storage maintenance, calibration and safekeeping
• Maintains explosives inventory
• Development of operational and capital budgets
• All other related functions.
