Change You Will Live With Us

We will guide your development into a Big Data Engineer. You will support various analytical challenges within the REWE Group, working at the forefront of scalable processing, provision, and analysis of diverse data formats, from real-time streaming data to massive distributed data systems. You can expect a broad spectrum of challenges in software development, data pipelining, and data science. You will apply your academic knowledge concretely, interdisciplinary, and independently.

The "AI & Business Analytics" degree program lasts two and a half years, divided into five semesters. You will acquire the mathematical, IT, and business knowledge required for the Big Data and Data Science fields. In the fifth semester, you will complete your Master's thesis with support from a REWE Group mentor and receive your Master of Science degree. Four days a week, you will actively work with us on current use cases. You will meet many friendly colleagues from IT and Analytics, with whom you will discuss and solve exciting challenges. Theoretical knowledge will gain a concrete face as you learn something new every day as part of the team.

• Business Area Analytics: Home to experts in Data Science and AI, applying machine learning to retail decisions.
• REWE digital: The "home of IT" for the REWE Group, developing the digital future of retail. We build what doesn't exist yet for tomorrow. Agile working methods with cross-functional teams provide the perfect environment for advancing the development of analytical products and use cases.

Knowledge You Will Learn in Theory

Your theoretical studies will take place at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management (FOM) in the "AI & Business Analytics" program at the Cologne campus. You will gain in-depth knowledge in areas including:

• Fundamentals of Machine Learning
• Data Engineering
• Business Analytics Applications

• Analysis of Semi- and Unstructured Data
• Project Management of Big Data Projects
• Change & Innovation
• Leadership & Sustainability

One day per week will be allocated for preparing and reviewing your studies.

• Completed Bachelor's degree with at least 40 ECTS in (Business) Informatics modules and a very good understanding of mathematics and technology.
• Programming experience in at least one language, preferably Python, R, or SQL.
• Enjoyment of complex analyses based on diverse data sets.
• Great enthusiasm and high affinity for IT, especially Big Data.
• Initial experience with cloud systems, Hadoop, or Spark is a plus.
• Openness, curiosity, and teamwork skills.
• Self-directed action, flexibility, and strong communication skills.
