Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, specializing in power systems, from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • P.Eng. or eligible to register with PEGNL as a P.Eng.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience with power systems and studies
  • Experience with power system software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP, APSEN.
  • Must have recently performed studies such as power flow, short circuit, dynamic and transient studies
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical documents such as reports, specifications, design drawings, studies, plans and instructions
  • Highly technical mindset with advanced engineering knowledge
  • Experience developing proposals in response to requests for proposals (RFP) and/or developing work scope based on client needs
  • Practical knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong and demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Ability to travel to client sites and other BBA offices within Canada, the USA and international destinations for short-term project assignments, such as site meetings, field reviews, site assessments, tests, and more
  • Asset: project management knowledge, including scoping, planning, estimating and analyzing project data
  • Asset: experience in HV/MV/LV electrical equipment troubleshooting, commissioning and system installation
  • Asset: basic knowledge of writing electrical equipment specifications
  • Asset: familiarity with electrical protection and control system
  • Asset: familiarity with IEEE, NEC or IEC standards

Requirements
