Tesco, a UFT company, is seeking an Engineering Manager responsible for overseeing the engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of projects by combining technical expertise, leadership, and business acumen. This role is responsible for hiring, supervising, and developing engineering staff while promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth. Key duties include setting clear expectations, modeling integrity and positive behaviors, managing project planning and execution, and mentoring team members. The Engineering Manager also plays a critical part in employee development and succession planning, ensuring high performance within the organization and prompt resolution of technical issues.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with the Engineering Management team to establish departmental objectives and targets, ensuring these are communicated effectively throughout the team and measured against predefined KPIs, while fostering a culture centered on accountability and excellence.
  • Oversee project transitions from Sales to Engineering by clarifying technical requirements and providing a structured framework for execution teams.
  • Allocate engineering resources in accordance with individual skills and competencies, serve as a Subject Matter Expert, and promote initiative and collaboration among team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure all engineering teams adhere to quality standards and satisfy project schedules and budgetary constraints.
  • Support the Project Management team by addressing technical issues with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Provide engineering expertise across estimation, sales, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and operations, always striving for innovation and process improvement.
  • Act as a technical and business liaison by preparing briefings for senior management and assisting with problem resolution, while promoting transparency and building trust.
  • Evaluate design tools, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with standards and recommend enhancements that simplify workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Maintain a high utilization rate of resources by monitoring engineering capacity and resource deployment, delivering accurate estimates, and advocating for optimal talent utilization.
  • Increase departmental efficiency by developing templates and standards, streamlining processes, and enhancing existing tools.
  • Collect and analyze data during and after project execution to recommend and implement continuous improvement strategies that support organizational success.

Background/Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as an Engineer specializing in electrical, controls, or instrumentation.
  • At least 5 years' experience managing, supervising, and leading engineering teams.
  • Capable of performing effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • Adept at multitasking, managing change, and organizing and prioritizing complex engineering projects.
  • Experience in a regulated industry is desirable
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical, Controls, and Industrial Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Master of Science (M.S) Degree preferred
  • Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation engineering design principles, and methodologies
  • Electrical/Controls Engineering codes and Standards in a regulated industry
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and Adobe Acrobat
  • AutoCAD/ AutoCAD Electrical

Compensation & Benefits

Pay will depend on education, experience, skills, and location. The posted range reflects our current expectations but may change. Tesco also offers a benefits package with health coverage, paid time off, holidays, and a 100% match on 401K contributions up to 4% of earnings.
