About the Role

Saab, Inc.'s Surveillance U.S. Division is on the lookout for an experienced Electrical Engineering Team Manager. This is a leadership role reporting to the Director of Engineering, where you'll oversee our talented team of Electrical Engineers. Your collaboration with cross-disciplinary functional managers and program management will be key to delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

Lead and Develop the Electrical Engineering Team:

  • Plan program resources effectively.
  • Create ongoing staffing capacity and long-term hiring strategies.
  • Recruit top talent to meet business needs.
  • Assign staff to projects and programs based on their strengths.
  • Set clear goals and objectives that align with business priorities for all team members.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to enhance team performance.
  • Oversee performance reviews, compensation evaluations, and career development opportunities.

Ensure Accountability for Cost and Schedule Management:

  • Manage resources in alignment with the Program Manager's budget and schedule.
  • Develop strategic approaches to task completion.
  • Enhance departmental competencies by creating effective training programs.
  • Conduct cost estimating for contracts and department budgets.
  • Ensure all estimates and schedules are well-documented and aligned with program objectives.
  • Set targets for cost and schedule management.
  • Monitor execution against established technical, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and evaluations as necessary.

Provide Technical Insight and Leadership:

  • Contribute to technology roadmap development.
  • Foster innovative solutions while assessing technical risks and strategies for mitigation.
  • Manage budgeting for overhead, capital requests, and software/subscription needs for the engineering function.

Champion Quality and Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure all updates to Quality Management System processes and documentation are conducted efficiently.
  • Establish metrics for evaluating team and process performance.
  • Ensure the team is accountable for following processes and continuously improving performance.

Compensation

Compensation Range: $150,500 - $195,600

This range is a guideline. Factors influencing the offer include role responsibilities, location, market considerations, as well as the candidate's experience, skills, and education.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience (or 12+ with a Master's, 10+ with a PhD).
  • Proven expertise in electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with Altium and SolidWorks.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to provide strategic direction for engineering projects.
  • Experience in leading through ambiguity and making impactful decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for work purposes.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret level clearance is required.
