Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Project Engineer to provide in-person and remote support to field installation teams and subcontractors. The role involves creating, reviewing, and checking electrical installation schematics and plans for equipment ranging from maritime surveillance radar to gensets and CCTV security/building monitoring systems, along with hands-on electrical installation configurations.
Note: This role requires global travel to regions including the Middle East, Far East, South East Asia, and Africa, with rotation periods up to 12 weeks in-country followed by 2 weeks at home.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve proposed electrical installation configurations for various equipment relying on electrical utility and power systems
- Physically oversee or undertake installations with a hands-on approach
- Train and coach field engineering teams to ensure high quality and consistent workmanship
- Help build and maintain standard work procedures and standards
- Review equipment installations, identify issues, and propose or rectify remedial work
- Understand equipment installation and configuration requirements to enable correct commissioning
- Ensure all installations comply with technical standards, safety protocols, and project specifications
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance of integrated systems
- Document installation procedures and generate detailed reports for project stakeholders
- Help devise and define long-term maintenance programs to ensure optimal and reliable system operation
Requirements
- Essential: Time served apprenticeship or QBE with minimum 17th Edition qualification
- Proven experience in electrical installations such as integrated CCTV and building monitoring systems, building power systems, or communication towers
- Strong understanding of electrical standards, safety regulations, and networking fundamentals
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, server rack layouts, technical drawings, standards, and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with mobile platforms (e.g., onboard vessels, mobile command units, aerospace)
- Appreciation of cultural differences in overseas territories and ability to communicate well with overseas colleagues
The role covers both MDA System and physical building electrical infrastructure.
