About the role

Overview

I am currently representing a client in Pennsylvania seeking an experienced EMC/EMI Engineer or Engineering Manager to join their team. This is a fully onsite role supporting the design, testing, and certification of electronic products, with an opportunity to take on technical leadership or team management responsibilities depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute EMC/EMI design and compliance efforts across the full product lifecycle
  • Develop and carry out test plans aligned with regulatory standards (FCC, CE, CISPR, MIL-STD, etc.)
  • Diagnose and resolve EMI/EMC issues through root cause analysis and practical design improvements
  • Work closely with hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure robust designs
  • Coordinate internal and external EMC testing, including certified labs
  • Provide guidance on PCB layout, grounding, shielding, and filtering techniques
  • Ensure all products meet regulatory and compliance requirements for target markets

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in EMC/EMI engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant EMC standards (FCC, CISPR, IEC, MIL-STD)
  • Hands-on experience with EMC test equipment and lab environments
  • Proven experience supporting products through compliance and certification
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior leadership or team management experience
  • Background in industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, or medical devices
  • Experience with EMC simulation tools or advanced analysis techniques
