This is a player-coach role reporting directly to the CTO. You will lead and grow a team of electronics engineers while also contributing hands-on to the design of safety-critical systems. You will drive the electronics architecture, guide design reviews, and mentor engineers, all while collaborating cross-functionally with software, optics, mechanical, and systems teams. Relocation assistance and immigration support are available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
What you will own:
- Leadership and development of a growing electronics engineering team
- Technical roadmap for electronics architecture and system integration
- Hands-on FPGA and/or analog/mixed-signal design contribution
- Design review processes, documentation standards, and compliance workflows
- Cross-functional collaboration to ensure system-level performance and reliability
- Continuous improvement initiatives and engineering mentorship culture
- Regulatory, verification, and risk management support (FMEA, ISO 14971)
Qualifications
What you must have:
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical, Biomedical, or related engineering field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in electronics design for medical or high-reliability systems
- Proven track record leading and mentoring engineers or small teams
- Strong technical depth in analog/mixed-signal design (low-noise, safety-critical systems) and/or FPGA/digital design (specification through verification)
- Familiarity with embedded firmware and communication interfaces
- Understanding of regulatory and safety-critical design standards
- A strategic mindset paired with a hands-on approach to design execution
- Startup mentality: adaptive, collaborative, and ready to scale with the team
