Embedded Software Developer (m/w/d)
Lange Aviation GmbH
About the role
About Lange Aviation
Lange Aviation designs and manufactures electric propulsion systems for aviation, in series production since 2004, three generations of battery technology, right here in Zweibrücken, Germany. Since 1996, we have been building battery systems, power electronics and flight controllers that bring aircraft safely into the sky. 1 million operational hours, 200,000 flight hours. We hold the first EASA approvals for manned electric flight (TC A.092).
You will join a two-person engineering team that owns the entire software lifecycle: from requirements definition through EASA certification. Your team lead, den Leiter der Software-Entwicklung, is not looking for an assistant. He is looking for a sparring partner at eye level.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software in ANSI C for safety-critical propulsion components (battery management, power electronics, motor control)
- Design software architecture for distributed systems (multiple devices, CAN communication, redundant safety architecture)
- Own the complete V-Model: requirements, design, coding, verification (100% statement coverage required)
- Model-based software development for power electronics (Simulink/Stateflow with code generation)
- Independent review and verification of your team lead's work (and vice versa)
- Certification-compliant documentation per DO-178C (DAL C)
What You Bring
Required:
- Experience in embedded C (bare-metal, microcontrollers, no frameworks)
- Software architecture: systems thinking beyond individual devices
- Understanding of the V-Model and independent software verification
- Fundamentals of functional safety (DO-178C, ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or equivalent)
- Master's degree or Diplom (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related)
- Willingness to work on-site in Zweibrücken, Germany
Nice to have:
- Project experience with DO-178C or ISO 26262 ASIL-C/D
- Model-based development (Simulink/Stateflow, automatic code generation)
- Power electronics software (field-oriented control, PWM, motor control)
- CAN bus, ARINC 429, STM32/ARM
- Fluent German and English
Why Lange Aviation
- A product that is truly rare: in series production since 2004, three generations, 200,000 flight hours
- Breadth over depth: you own the full lifecycle instead of being siloed in a large corporation
- Work directly with industry pioneer Axel Lange (Berblinger Prize, OSTIV Award recipient)
- Purpose-driven work: your software helps transform aviation sustainably
- Located at Zweibrücken airfield: your code literally flies past your window
We look forward to your application at bewerbung@lange-aviation.com
