About the role
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and maintain software and firmware components for safety‑critical aerospace and defense systems. The role involves working across the full system development life cycle (SDLC) and integrating software with custom hardware and FPGA platforms to support mission‑critical avionics applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and debug embedded software components including device drivers, boot loaders, and built‑in‑test (BIT) libraries.
- Develop software in C targeting LynxOS / LynxElement Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Support safety‑critical avionics mission computers in compliance with industry quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams across software, hardware, and FPGA engineering.
- Integrate custom hardware and FPGA designs with embedded software in a laboratory environment.
- Apply appropriate engineering standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the SDLC.
- Support documentation, defect resolution, performance analysis, and validation activities.
- Participate in certification and compliance activities, including:
- Requirements analysis
- Peer and formal code reviews
- Verification and validation efforts
- Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and technical support teams as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in Embedded Software Development for aerospace or defense systems.
- Proficiency in C programming for embedded targets.
- Hands‑on experience with Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS), preferably LynxOS or LynxElement.
- Experience developing low‑level software (boot loaders, device drivers, BIT).
- Understanding of avionics, mission systems, or safety‑critical environments.
- Experience with hardware/software integration and FPGA interfacing.
- Familiarity with certification standards (e.g., DO‑178, safety‑critical processes) is preferred.
- Ability to work in lab environments and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
