About the role
Job Summary
Thoroughly Learn and maintain existing company control systems for residential elevators in both the hardware and firmware disciplines. Use your creativity and design skills to upgrade the current control system to a more modern hardware platform. E.g touch screens in all user interfaces. In addition, maintain continuous improvement efforts for existing control system products.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Design electrical controllers that meet or exceed all related safety code requirements per Elevator code ASME A17.1 and 17.5
- Learn & Maintain hardware and software of company’s existing products
- Engineer & design microcontroller based mixed signal circuit boards & systems
- Suggest and implement product improvements on present products that lower costs, maintain reliability and improve functions/performance
- Identify alternative electrical components that meet or exceed specifications of existing components
- Perform detailed CAD drawings using Draftsight and/or PCB software
- Assist production by developing test fixtures and work instructions
- Develop and maintain new Bills of Material for new Controllers and Electrical products
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, regulations, and best practices
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders
- Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations to communicate project status and results
Qualifications Required
- Proven experience in embedded systems development in both hardware and firmware disciplines
- Proven experience developing & writing code for microprocessor / microcontroller based systems in Assembly and higher level languages
- Experience with Microchip Software development, coding and testing
- Write and document straightforward code in at least one language
- Proficiency or proven ability to execute circuit board design, schematic generation, and PCB layout tools using Altium PCB Designer
- Ability to understand the function and operation of mechanical hardware used for elevator and lift systems
- Must be proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and PPT
- Minimum 5 years working experience on microprocessor or microcontroller based electronic controls & systems
- Excellent trouble shooting skills
- Commitment to staying updated with latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, and emotional intelligence skills
- Prove Ability to work effectively in team settings or independently
- Safely and effectively lift, carry, and move objects of varying weight
- Bending, stooping, reaching, balancing, standing, walking, for extended periods of time and maintain the necessary physical dexterity and coordination
Qualifications Preferred
- Direct engineering experience for an elevator manufacturer
- Experience implementing displays and high speed communications
- Experience with AC & DC systems
- Experience with VFDs

Education
- Minimum BS College degree
- Prefer 4 year BSEE Engineering Degree
