Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize embedded software components in C/C++, with a focus on bootloaders and system bring-up.
  • Work on Linux kernel internals, analyze and modify kernel boot sequences, and manage system initialization processes.
  • Develop and maintain support for Fast Boot, Slim Boot loader, or similar minimal boot frameworks for embedded systems.
  • Customize and integrate Yocto Linux for specific target hardware.
  • Implement and troubleshoot virtualization solutions using hypervisors like ACRN, QNX, or KVM.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to support platform bring-up and debug low-level issues.
  • Drive performance tuning, system diagnostics, and root cause analysis for early boot failures and hardware interface issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong programming experience in C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of Linux kernel architecture, boot process, and system internals.
  • Proven experience with boot loader development (e.g., U-Boot, Slim Boot loader, or Fast Boot techniques).
  • Experience working with Yocto Project and building custom Linux distributions for embedded platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with hypervisors such as ACRN, QNX, or KVM.
  • Deep familiarity with hardware bring-up, low-level debugging (JTAG, UART), and board support packages (BSPs).
  • Knowledge of secure boot, trusted boot, and firmware-level security mechanisms is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-core SoCs and ARM/x86 architectures.
  • Understanding of Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) or secure firmware (e.g., Intel TXT, TPM, UEFI).
  • Familiarity with industrial, automotive, or telecom domains is advantageous.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need-based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
