Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Embedded System Engineer, based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The Embedded System Engineer will design, develop, and maintain embedded software and hardware solutions. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and troubleshoot embedded systems, ensuring functionality and performance requirements are met. The role involves working on IoT devices, systems integration, and delivering technical expertise in electronics design and software development.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Embedded Software development and thorough understanding of Software Development processes
  • Background in Electrical Engineering with hands-on experience in circuit design and analysis
  • Knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and IoT system implementation
  • Strong understanding of Electronics and the ability to incorporate electronic components into system designs
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience with embedded systems testing, debugging tools, and hardware-software interfacing

Embedded Systems Engineers: You need hardware hackers who can work close to the metal. They will be responsible for mapping the I/O between your logic centers (Raspberry Pi 5 and NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano) and your thruster controllers (Teensy 4.1 CAN-bus). Crucially, they will also need to physically wire your "Hardware-in-the-Loop" (HIL) Safety Gate using Solid State Relays to ensure the AI cannot fire thrusters without a human operator's RSA-2048 signed approval.

About TITANESS

TITANESS is an advanced aerospace and robotics company built on a radical premise: space debris is not a "tragedy of the commons," but an unmined, highly valuable resource. Instead of passively mitigating space junk, TITANESS actively retrieves it to build a closed-loop orbital reclamation and manufacturing ecosystem. The ultimate goal is to bypass the massive costs of launching materials from Earth by recycling mass that has already beaten Earth's gravity well.

The Space Clean System (SDEC Fleet)

To achieve this, TITANESS is developing the Space Debris Excellence Consortium (SDEC) fleet, an autonomous network of specialized spacecraft:

  • Vesta-01 Scouts: High-fidelity 6U CubeSats serving as the "edge-nodes" of the fleet. Powered by NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano AI engines, they process massive LiDAR point clouds in real-time to perform "Kinetic Pose Estimation"—allowing them to synchronize with and approach fast-tumbling debris. They can also deploy long-lasting Tritium-powered "M-ID Beacon Darts" to tag debris for later retrieval.
  • TCU-Alpha "Heavy Haulers": Brutalist, heavily shielded vault structures equipped with robotic tethers and magnetic feet to physically lock onto and contain defunct satellites.

Security and Chain of Custody

TITANESS incorporates strict security protocols to prevent rogue AI actions and ensure legal ownership of salvaged materials:

  • The HIL Safety Gate: A strict hardware-in-the-loop failsafe. The AI cannot physically fire docking thrusters because the power line is severed by a Solid State Relay. Engagement requires a human operator to send an RSA-2048 signed "GNC-ENABLE" packet, making accidental or rogue captures physically impossible.
  • MdEC Digital Ledger: A cryptographic tracking system utilizing hardware secure elements (like the ATECC608) to assign a unique Metadata-ID (M-ID) to every piece of debris, establishing an immutable chain of custody.

The Endgame: The Space Faktory

The retrieval system feeds into TITANESS's ultimate vision: The Space Faktory. This is a zero-G industrial megastructure—a massive orbital foundry designed to initiate the "Phoenix Protocol." Here, the captured debris is smelted down and 3D-printed into brand new spacecraft chassis directly in orbit, effectively turning the orbital graveyard into the manufacturing hub of the future space economy.
