About the role

About

At Cellectric Biosciences, we are building next‑generation sample‑preparation solutions that empower life‑science researchers with faster, more precise, and more reliable workflows. As we continue to expand our product capabilities and move toward more advanced integrated systems, we are looking for talented engineers who thrive in hands‑on, multidisciplinary environments. If you enjoy taking ideas from concept to functioning hardware, collaborating across engineering domains, and contributing directly to real laboratory instrumentation, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast‑moving, innovation‑driven team.

Responsibilities

Electronics & Embedded Software

  • Design, build, and iterate electronic subsystems (MCU boards, sensor interfaces, actuators).
  • Develop embedded software in C/C++ (RTOS-based systems, drivers, state machines, high-frequency ADC processing).
  • Support higher-level tooling and test scripts (e.g., Python).
  • Define software architecture with production and maintainability in mind.
  • Debug hardware and firmware using oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG, etc.
  • Design and assemble cables, connectors, and harnesses.
  • Perform hands-on assembly, rework, soldering, and prototyping as needed.

Product Development & Testing

  • Plan, execute, and document electronic and system-level tests.
  • Support device validation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of existing prototypes.
  • Design for EMC, safety, and robustness in collaboration with external experts.
  • Contribute to risk analysis and design controls (requirements, verification, traceability).
  • Support design for manufacturing, serviceability, and long-term reliability.

Interdisciplinary Work

  • Collaborate on mechanical concepts, fluidic and thermal control, and enclosure integration.
  • Contribute to 3D-printed prototype iterations and mechanical development.
  • Participate in system architecture discussions and product definition.

Your Profile

  • Strong background in electronics and embedded systems development.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, power electronics, sensors, and actuators.
  • Experience in PCB development, cable/connector selection, prototyping, and production.
  • Solid embedded C/C++ skills; familiarity with RTOS concepts and state machines.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with hardware and prototypes.
  • Structured working style with documentation and regulatory awareness.

Nice to Have / Bonus

  • Experience in regulatory-relevant product development (EMC, safety, software testing).
  • Familiarity with medical/biotech or other regulated products.
  • Linux knowledge (embedded Linux, custom distributions, tooling).
  • Mechanical understanding (tolerances, thermal behavior, assembly constraints, mechanisms).
  • Experience bringing prototypes closer to production.

What We Offer

  • Deep involvement in building real, complex hardware products end-to-end.
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration (electronics, mechanics, fluidics, software, biology).
  • Direct impact on product architecture and development direction.
