About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test embedded hardware and firmware for manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
- Integrate embedded systems with existing production machinery, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to embedded systems on the manufacturing floor to minimize downtime.
- Develop and maintain documentation for embedded system designs, code, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (production, mechanical, electrical) to define system requirements and implement solutions.
- Optimize existing embedded systems for performance, reliability, and efficiency in a high‑volume production environment.
Recommended Qualifications
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
- Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex‑M) and their peripherals (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, ADC).
- Familiarity with real‑time operating systems (RTOS) and bare‑metal programming.
- Ability to read schematics, use debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers), and perform hardware bring‑up.
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, EtherCAT) and sensor integration.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, PROFINET).
- Familiarity with PLC programming concepts or SCADA systems.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT).
- Experience developing automated test fixtures for production environments.
- Knowledge of quality control methodologies in electronics manufacturing.
