Your tasks

• Development and maintenance of automated test suites for embedded systems and FPGA-based hardware platforms with a focus on C-based embedded software
• Conception, implementation, and execution of functional, integration, regression, and performance tests on real target hardware
• Development of test automation frameworks and test harnesses using Python, shell scripts, and other suitable scripting languages
• Setup and operation of automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments for embedded devices and system hardware
• Integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps)
• Close collaboration with embedded software developers, FPGA designers, hardware engineers, and system architects to define suitable test strategies
• Analysis of embedded software behavior on target hardware, including debugging of C code, communication interfaces, and timing behavior
• Conception, setup, configuration, and maintenance of complex test racks (embedded hardware, FPGA boards, measuring instruments, power supplies, etc.)
• Support in the verification of FPGA functionalities (basic knowledge advantageous)
• Use of simulation, debugging, tracing, and measurement tools for troubleshooting and verification
• Participation in development environments with C/C++, Python, YAML, Git, and CI/CD tools
• Documentation of test strategies, test cases, test results, and test environments to ensure traceability and quality

Your profile

• Completed studies (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Automation Technology, or a comparable field of study
• Several years of practical experience in embedded software development and/or embedded testing
• Very good knowledge of C programming, especially in hardware-related development (memory, interfaces, timing, debugging)
• Good experience with Python and ideally knowledge of Bash, YAML, or comparable technologies
• Experience in test automation of embedded systems, ideally with Hardware-in-the-Loop
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps or similar)
• Experience in setting up and operating test systems or test racks for embedded or FPGA hardware
• Good knowledge of relevant interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, or similar
• Confident use of debugging tools, measuring instruments, version control systems, and automated build/test environments
• Analytical thinking skills as well as a structured and independent way of working
• Teamwork skills and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration

Language skills

• Fluent German (spoken and written)
• Good English skills
