Energy Modeling Team Lead

Role Overview

The Energy Modeling Team Lead will oversee a small technical team focused on building energy performance and compliance modeling. This individual will provide both technical leadership and project oversight, ensuring high-quality delivery of energy models and supporting overall project success.

In addition to technical responsibilities, this role includes team leadership, mentoring, workload coordination, and contributing to the growth of energy modeling services within the division.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor members of the energy modeling team
• Review and support technical energy models and deliverables
• Oversee project scheduling, forecasting, and workload planning
• Support budgeting, project tracking, and financial performance of assigned work
• Act as a key technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to expand energy modeling services and capabilities
• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and energy efficiency requirements
• Support preparation of documentation for building permit submissions and energy compliance reporting
• Collaborate closely with mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering teams

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in energy modeling or building performance roles
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, building envelopes, and energy codes
• Experience with energy modeling tools (e.g., eQuest, HOT2000, RETScreen or similar)
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a consulting environment
