Our client, a rapidly expanding firm in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a proactive and experienced Energy Project Manager to oversee critical projects within the Onitsha, Anambra, NG region. This role demands a unique blend of technical understanding, leadership acumen, and a strong commitment to driving sustainable energy solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of energy projects, from initial planning and feasibility studies through to execution, commissioning, and handover. You will liaise with internal teams, external contractors, regulatory bodies, and local communities to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of energy projects (e.g., solar farms, power distribution upgrades, energy efficiency initiatives).
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints.
- Coordinate and oversee the work of engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and permitting requirements.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular project review meetings and prepare detailed progress reports for senior management.
- Foster a collaborative and results‑oriented project team environment.
- Manage change control processes to address scope modifications effectively.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management methodologies and best practices within the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in project management, with a significant focus on the energy sector (renewables, power generation, distribution, or efficiency).
- Proven ability to manage complex projects from initiation to closure.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile), and tools.
- Excellent knowledge of energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management, risk assessment, and contract negotiation.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a Hybrid environment, balancing remote work with on‑site project activities in and around Onitsha, Anambra, NG.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Certification such as PMP is a strong advantage.
