About the role
Overview
A growing preclinical research organisation specialising in cardiovascular disease models and translational research is seeking an Assistant Engineer / Engineer to join its team based near Toulouse.
This opportunity would suit candidates with a background in Biology, cardiovascular research, experimental pharmacology, or in vivo research who are looking to work within a highly specialised and collaborative scientific environment.
The successful candidate will support preclinical cardiovascular studies, combining hands-on experimental work with study coordination, data analysis, and laboratory support activities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of animal physiology and cardiovascular diseases within preclinical research studies
- Perform in vivo techniques including rodent handling, injections, treatments, blood sampling, and organ collection
- Conduct advanced in vivo procedures and small animal surgery
- Participate in study planning and execution according to project timelines
- Estimate consumable and material requirements for studies
- Prepare study-related documentation in collaboration with internal teams
- Set up calculation spreadsheets for dosing, administration volumes, and concentrations
- Enter, review, and analyse experimental data
- Participate in statistical analysis and scientific discussions with Study Directors
General Responsibilities
- Work in accordance with quality standards, internal procedures, and experimental protocols
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Use scientific English for protocol review and communication
- Utilise laboratory software tools including Excel and GraphPad Prism
- Support maintenance of laboratory facilities and specialist equipment
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree qualified (BSc, MSc, or equivalent) within Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related field
- FELASA certification / Level II animal experimentation qualification required
- Previous experience within cardiovascular research, in vivo pharmacology, or a CRO environment preferred
- Practical experience with animal physiology and in vivo techniques essential
- Surgical training or experience would be advantageous
