About
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Central Region, is looking for an Engineer/Architect 4 (Traffic Safety & Utilities Group Chief) in Anchorage to help Keep Alaska Moving.
Responsibilities
- Function as the Traffic Safety & Utilities Group Chief with significant discretion and authority for the full range of professional and administrative actions of the Central Region Traffic Safety & Utilities Section.
- Direct, plan, and supervise capital improvement program support.
- Develop Central Region's Highway Safety Improvement Program.
- Support permitting efforts.
- Provide operational support related to traffic signal management, speed studies, and responses to stakeholder inquiries.
Who we are looking for
- Knowledge of civil engineering concepts, principles, theories, and methods for planning, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining public works systems.
- Effective oral and written communication skills tailored to audience and information nature.
- Organizational awareness of mission, functions, and operational systems.
- Teamwork skills to encourage cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity.
- Managing performance by setting expectations, tracking progress, supporting employees, providing feedback, and addressing issues promptly.
Minimum Qualifications
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect.
- Six years of professional engineering or architectural experience.
- Three years in a supervisory or project manager capacity as an Engineer/Architect 2 or higher or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Registration requirements for out-of-state professionals and Alaska registration within one year of hire.
