E-invoicing is becoming increasingly important in many of our core markets as countries are starting to make it mandatory. Once in place, e-invoicing helps automate the administration for business because instead of exchanging papers, businesses are exchanging well formatted business data. As Engineering Director – E-Invoicing, you will lead an organisation of 30+ people building our ambition: the best e‑invoicing platform in Europe.

Your initial focus will be on building and scaling a platform for the French market, in preparation for the new reform in September 2026. Your role as an Engineering Director, E-Invoicing

As Engineering Director, you will define the engineering strategy for our e-invoicing domain and lead multiple teams responsible for building a reliable, scalable and compliant platform. You will work closely with Product, Design and senior business stakeholders to ensure we deliver solutions that meet customer needs, support regulatory requirements and scale with Shine’s European ambitions.

We’re looking for a strong engineering leader who loves technology, is deeply engaged with architecture and engineering quality, and has a proven track record of delivering scalable solutions through empowered teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Engineering Strategy: Define and drive the technical vision for the e‑invoicing domain, ensuring our platform is scalable, resilient and ready to support future European expansion.
• Organisation Leadership: Lead an engineering organisation of 30+ people through managers and senior individual contributors, fostering a culture of ownership, excellence and collaboration.
• Execution at Scale: Ensure strong delivery against ambitious product and regulatory milestones, starting with the successful launch of our French e‑invoicing platform ahead of the September 2026 reform.
• Technical Leadership: Partner with engineers and managers on architecture, system design and engineering practices to build highly scalable, distributed solutions with strong reliability and performance.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, Compliance and other platform teams to align business priorities with technical execution and deliver a seamless customer experience.
• People Development: Coach and support engineering managers and senior engineers, helping them grow their leadership, technical impact and organisational effectiveness.
• Operational Excellence: Strengthen predictability, quality, security and observability across teams, while creating the conditions for fast, sustainable delivery.
