About the role

YOUR ROLE

As an Engineering Director - Helix Virtualization Platform on our team, you'll will lead a multi-team engineering organization responsible for the delivery, evolution, and quality of the Helix Virtualization Platform (HVP) and adjacent certified products used in ADG markets. You will be accountable for execution, staffing, technical oversight, and alignment with product, customer, and revenue commitments.

In your daily job you will:

  • Lead and manage an organization of approximately 60+ software engineers and engineering managers across multiple sites.
  • Own execution and delivery of the HVP product roadmap, including safety-certified capabilities.
  • Own resource allocation, headcount growth, and alignment of engineering capacity to roadmap and revenue commitments.
  • Own delivery predictability and quality metrics, and participate in safety, security, and certification audits.
  • Identify and manage technical, schedule, and certification risks, driving mitigation and escalation as required.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure delivery of mission- and safety-critical software on time and to specification.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, and IEC 61508.
  • Operate in secure engineering environments and maintain compliance with strict cybersecurity, data handling, and access control requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership in embedded systems, RTOS, and virtualization technologies.
  • Lead teams practicing DevSecOps, integrating security and compliance into development and delivery pipelines.
  • Partner with Product Management to translate product strategy and customer requirements into Collaborate with Services teams to support product customization while preserving platform integrity and certification objectives.
  • Work with Sales and Customer Success to support strategic customer engagements and technical escalations.
  • Develop engineering talent, leadership depth, and succession planning.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are:

  • Strong experience leading large-scale teams delivering embedded, safety-critical, and platform software products.
  • Demonstrated experience with safety certification standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, and IEC 61508.
  • Solid technical foundation in embedded RTOS, virtualization architectures, and system-level design.
  • Hands-on programming experience with C and C++.
  • Experience leading DevSecOps teams in regulated or secure environments.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with strict cybersecurity requirements; familiarity with NIST SP 800-171 is desirable.
  • Proven effectiveness collaborating across Engineering, Product Management, Services, and customer-facing teams.
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering organizations.
  • 12+ years of experience in embedded or platform software development.
  • 7+ years of experience in technical and people leadership roles, including leading multi-team organizations delivering safety- or mission-critical software.
  • Experience managing managers and scaling organizations in support of revenue-critical roadmaps.
