This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineering Lead to own the architecture and direction of a core platform build at one of South Africa’s largest financial services organisations.

THE COMPANY:

A leading South African financial services organisation undergoing a major platform transformation, investing in scalable, modular architecture to support its insurance and asset management platforms. The environment is engineering-led, focused on system design, reusability, and long-term scalability.

THE ROLE:

You’ll own the architecture and runtime health of a large-scale insurance platform across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure. Your focus will be on defining the platform from the ground up, shaping how it is structured, how it scales, and how it is maintained over time.

This includes setting architectural standards, driving engineering quality, and conducting cross-stack code reviews. You’ll be responsible for consistency across delivery, security, and performance.

On the frontend, you’ll oversee microfrontend architecture using React and Next.js, ensuring alignment to Module Federation patterns and platform contracts. On the backend, you’ll guide .NET services and RESTful API design, ensuring clean integration patterns and strong data integrity.

You’ll take ownership of AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes workloads, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and observability across monitoring, logging, and alerting.

You’ll work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders on planning and delivery, while mentoring engineers and setting the standard for how the platform is built.

Requirements

• 8+ years software engineering experience across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
• Solid C# and .NET experience with strong API and integration design understanding
• Strong React / Next.js and modern TypeScript experience at code review level
• Proven experience working with AWS and Kubernetes in production
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, GitHub Actions, Helm)
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash or similar)
• Strong Linux fundamentals and good understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL)
• Good understanding of security practices and application security principles
