ENGINEERING MANAGER
Position Overview:
The Engineering Manager leads and develops a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, development, testing, and manufacturability of equipment type products. This role ensures engineering programs are executed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality, safety, and product liability standards.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical leadership with people-management skills and a solid understanding of product lifecycle management in a manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with marketing, sales, operations, and executive leadership to drive innovation, profitability, and operational excellence across the product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Provide clear direction, performance feedback, coaching, and development plans for team members
- Ensure appropriate resource planning and workload prioritization across projects
Product & Portfolio Leadership
- Own engineering execution across the full product lifecycle—from concept and design through production, launch, and post-launch support
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to evaluate business and product performance, using data-driven insights to guide product lifecycle decisions including growth, sustainment, and consolidation.
- Play a key role in executing product line strategies by working with Sales and Marketing to help justify, prioritize, and scope new product development initiatives aligned with market needs and business objectives.
- Maintain and report on product portfolio status, performance, and health
Strategy & Road Mapping
- Collaboratively develop multi-year product plans and technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy
- Contribute to product and business strategy presentations for leadership and stakeholders
- Support Voice of Customer (VoC) efforts by partnering with marketing to translate customer insights into market and engineering requirements
Engineering Execution & Technical Oversight
- Oversee equipment design, prototyping, testing, and validation to ensure functional, safety, and quality requirements are met
- Ensure designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, serviceable, and scalable for production
- Manage engineering documentation including SolidWorks models, drawings, BOMs, and production support documentation
- Maintain strong awareness of product liability risks and ensure designs minimize risk through sound engineering practices
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations to resolve product performance and availability issues
- Support cost-reduction and profit-improvement initiatives
- Provide technical and product support for sales inquiries, marketing materials, and sales training
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Design Engineering, or related field
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in engineering design, testing, tooling, and manufacturing
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering leadership or managerial role
- Experience with agriculture or industrial equipment manufacturing preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-development capabilities
- Solid engineering analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
- Understanding of product profitability, cost management, and manufacturing economics
- Proficiency in engineering tools and business software
- Results-driven, action-oriented, and highly organized
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Vice President
- Direct Reports: Design Engineers, Test Engineers, Project Manager, Drafters, Engineering Assistant, R&D Supervisor
- Future/Matrix Reports: Technical Writers, Bill of Materials (BOM)
Onsite Office Hours:
- Monday through Friday
- Schedule to be worked out with Manager
Pay Range: $90k to $121k annual salary, depending on background and experience

Pay: $90,000.00 - $121,000.00 per year
