We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to play a pivotal role in leading engineering delivery on major Mining & Metals projects within an EPC/EPCM consulting environment. This role offers the opportunity to influence project strategy, drive technical excellence, and integrate multidisciplinary teams behind a common project vision. This role is based in Johannesburg.

Job Summary

Engineering Manager to provide overall leadership and direction for engineering execution across the project lifecycle. Be accountable for ensuring engineering activities are aligned with project objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, while delivering cost‑effective, high‑quality outcomes. Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, working closely with project management, process engineering, project controls, procurement, construction advisory teams, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and predictable delivery. The role requires a balance of strong technical judgment, commercial awareness, and leadership.

Job Responsibilities

• Providing strategic oversight of all engineering activities on assigned mining projects.
• Leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible engineering solutions.
• Ensuring alignment across engineering disciplines and effective management of technical interfaces.
• Driving value‑engineering initiatives and cost‑competitive execution strategies.
• Monitoring engineering performance against scope, budget, and schedule baselines.
• Supporting effective change management and proactive risk identification.
• Ensuring all engineering deliverables meet required quality standards, specifications, and regulatory obligations.
• Maintaining clear, consistent communication with senior stakeholders and discipline managers.
• This position is firmly focused on engineering leadership and integration, and successful consulting‑led project execution.

Qualifications And Skills Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant experience, ideally within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects.
• Proven experience in engineering consulting or EPC/EPCM environments.
• Demonstrated capability in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, project controls, and quality management.
• Professional registration or certification, where required by location.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in complex, fast‑paced, results‑driven project environments.
• Background in process plants and materials handling systems.
• Strong competency in effort‑hour estimating, resource planning, and staffing forecasts.
• Experience across the full project lifecycle, including project setup, schedule development, progress tracking, and project close‑out.
• Proven resilience and leadership under pressure, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
