Engineering Project Manager
Premier Staffing Solution
About the role
About
As the company expands its New Product Development (NPD) pipeline, they are seeking an Engineering Project Manager who brings strong technical depth, hands-on problem solving, and the ability to manage projects from concept through full production launch.
This role is ideal for an early to mid-career engineer who started their career in mechanical, electrical, or product engineering, then grew into project or applications engineering. The team needs someone who is comfortable being the sole project owner, not just a coordinator—someone who can lead the technical conversation, manage timelines, engage directly with customers, and work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Note: This is NOT a contract manufacturing PM role. They want someone from a product manufacturing environment having background in lithium-ion batteries, chargers, power accessories, and related components.
Summary
The Engineering Manager leads manufacturing engineering operations, providing technical and people leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production. This role drives scrap reduction, labor efficiency, continuous improvement, and successful new product launches in an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the manufacturing engineering team; set priorities, goals, and performance metrics
- Drive scrap reduction, cost savings, and productivity improvements using data-driven problem solving
- Improve labor efficiency through process optimization, line balancing, and automation initiatives
- Support new product launches, pilot builds, and production ramp-ups
- Lead engineering change management and maintain compliant documentation
- Oversee controls and automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, vision, data collection)
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485; support audits, CAPAs, and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, EHS, and R&D
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- 7–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience; 3–5 years in a leadership role
- Experience with regulated manufacturing (battery, electronics, medical device, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of process development, PFMEA, SPC, validation, and industrial automation
- Proven leadership, project management, and cross-functional communication skills
- Experience supporting new product launches and high-volume production.
- Prior experience in an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certified facility preferred.
