ENGINEERING MANAGER – COMMINUTION

IMS Engineering is seeking a dynamic Engineering Manager – Comminution; to take ownership of the design, development, and continuous improvement of world-class crushing equipment and systems. This is a pivotal leadership role where engineering excellence meets real-world application in demanding mining environments.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you will lead both technical design excellence and engineering leadership, including:

• Lead the end-to-end design and development of crushing equipment and related systems
• Oversee 3D modelling, detailed design drawings, BOMs, and FEA analysis
• Ensure all designs are robust, manufacturable, and aligned to customer and operational requirements
• Drive engineering compliance with relevant mining and international standards
• Manage multiple concurrent design projects from concept through to production release
• Conduct design reviews, DFMEAs, and technical risk assessments
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve DFM challenges and improve production efficiency
• Support commissioning, field service, and aftermarket technical issues when required
• Integrate sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental considerations into designs
• Own engineering documentation, configuration control, and product lifecycle records
• Drive value engineering, cost optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives

What You’ll Bring:

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification)
• 8–10 years engineering experience (mechanical or structural design)
• 3–5 years in a senior or lead engineering/design capacity
• Strong background in mining equipment, preferably crushing, processing, or materials handling
• Proven experience in equipment design, manufacturing, and field/service environments
• Solid understanding of engineering principles and design for performance and manufacturability
• Experience with CAD (3D modelling and detailed drafting essential)
• FEA experience advantageous
• Strong understanding of structural design principles (beneficial)
• Experience with engineering documentation and data management systems
• Strong commercial awareness with understanding of cost drivers and value engineering
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and managing project delivery
