Role Overview

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the Coinbase Card team within the Consumer Product Group, overseeing the full lifecycle of this innovative product—from card management to transaction processing. The Coinbase Card enables crypto investors to earn rewards through daily spending and provides a seamless way to use cryptocurrency worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead full-stack engineering teams, guiding the development of features and infrastructure for both web and mobile platforms.
• Mentor direct reports to positively influence the organization and support their career growth.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leaders to convert our vision into a concrete quarterly roadmap, breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks.
• Provide a thoughtful technical perspective, contributing to sound architectural decisions while promoting a culture of high-quality code and effective engineering processes.
• Work alongside Product and Engineering teams to guarantee successful delivery and operation of high-performance, distributed systems.
• Partner with our talent acquisition team to identify and recruit top engineering talent that aligns with Coinbase's values and products.
• Own and enhance processes that ensure engineering quality and adherence to our engineering service level agreements (SLAs).

What We Seek in You

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in engineering management.
• Experience with card products, ideally having built or contributed to such products at scale.
• A strong grasp of high-quality code standards and effective software engineering practices, fostering an environment that upholds these principles.
• A focus on execution with the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
• Capability to balance long-term strategic thinking with practical short-term execution.
• Experience in creating, delivering, and managing scalable multi-tenanted, distributed systems.
• Hands-on skills—whether in writing or reviewing code, participating in on-call rotations, or troubleshooting bugs.
• A genuine passion for building an open financial system that connects the world.

Compensation

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges from $218,025 to $256,500 USD. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility along with benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
