About the role
Objective
Provide technical assurance and daily oversight of DoF mechanical systems (especially HVAC) to ensure operational stability, compliance, energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and proactive problem‑solving, while strengthening internal capability and coordination with landlord/FM providers.
Essential Duties
- Building system performance and optimization: monitor mechanical systems and optimize setpoints, control logic, and airside balancing to achieve stable operations and comfort.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance: lead maintenance planning, reliability programs, and root‑cause analysis to reduce reactive call‑outs.
- BMS oversight: govern programming changes, trend analysis, and alarm management; address control instability and "hunting".
- Energy and sustainability management: implement energy analytics, track chilled water/electrical consumption, and deliver reduction targets while meeting sustainability standards.
- Governance and compliance: ensure adherence to HSE, QHSE, and building code requirements; maintain technical documentation and SOPs.
- Stakeholder coordination: provide clear technical leadership and coordinate activities across landlord FM teams, HVAC contractors, and DoF’s FM supplier.
- Issue resolution and continuous improvement: lead corrective actions on temperature/humidity variance, dehumidification, and IAQ concerns (including mould mitigation).
- Risk management and crisis preparedness: develop contingency plans for critical system failures and lead incident response.
- Projects and change: guide HVAC/MEP improvement initiatives and support future office design and retrofit projects.
- Capability building: mentor UAE National graduate engineers and build in‑house technical depth.
- Provide support and perform any other duty as directed by the line manager.
Experience and Qualifications
- Preferable to have 10–15 years’ experience in complex HVAC/BMS environments, chilled water systems, airside balancing, and control logic
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- 10–15 years’ experience in complex HVAC/BMS environments, chilled water systems, airside balancing, and control logic.
- Familiarity with Siemens/Tridium BMS is preferred; experience with energy analytics and sustainability programs.
- Professional certifications such as IFMA CFM, ASHRAE membership/certifications is preferred;
