Main Missions

The Front Engineering Manager is responsible for the front-end technological strategy of Fortuneo's assets (prospect subscription journeys, mobile application, web customer area, showcase website).

  • Structure and grow the Front (Web and Mobile) development team by embodying a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Guarantee the velocity and quality of customer journey delivery (Subscription, Customer Area, Showcase Website).
  • Industrialize development practices (Code, CI/CD, Tests) to support the Mobile First strategy.
  • Ensure permanent alignment between Product/Design ambitions and technical reality.
  • Define Front development standards and manage the creation of inter-application technical foundations to pool efforts between applications.
  • Ensure the management and consistency of team staffing according to priorities.

1 - Front & Mobile Technological Strategy

  • Implement the mobile application redesign strategy.
  • Define and enforce code standards (Clean Code, code reviews) and framework choices.
  • Guarantee web performance and mobile application fluidity.

2 - Delivery & Operational Excellence Management

  • Commit to delivery schedules by challenging team estimates.
  • Track and define productivity metrics (Lead Time, Deployment Frequency, Change Failure Rate, etc.) and remove daily blockers.
  • Coordinate critical production deployments (especially iOS/Android Mobile Store releases).
  • Ensure compliance with the operating budget for their scope (tools, service providers).

3 - Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, onboard, and retain the talent (Tech Leads, Web & Mobile Developers) needed for the transformation.
  • Define career paths, conduct annual reviews, and support skill development (mentoring).

4 - Industrialization & Quality (DevEx)

  • Implement a robust automated testing strategy (Unit, Integration, Component, Contract, Visual, E2E, Exploratory, Manual) to secure deployments.
  • Optimize Developer Experience (DevEx) by modernizing development environments and CI/CD.
  • Ensure the implementation and evolution of the Design System in collaboration with the Design team.

5 - Product & Design Collaboration

  • Form the Product-Design-Engineering trio at the squad level to co-build features.
  • Participate in Discovery phases to validate technical feasibility and propose innovations.

6 - Interface with Architecture & Group (ASI)

  • Collaborate with the Domain Lead Architect to effectively consume APIs exposed by the distribution IS.
  • Provide feedback on Back-end service evolution needs to support new Front-end journeys.
  • Comply with security and compliance requirements imposed by the banking context.

The Profile We're Looking For

HARD SKILLS:

  • Manage the front-end layer
    • Technological Expertise (Web & Mobile)
      • Mobile Strategy: Solid experience in Mobile development (Native iOS/Android) and perfect mastery of the application lifecycle (Apple/Google Store Submission, certificate management, Beta testing, continuous delivery culture, and feature flipping).
      • Mastery of the Typescript / Node.js / React / AWS ecosystem
    • Front-End Architecture: Ability to design modular and scalable architectures.
    • Quality & Industrialization (DevEx)
      • Testing Strategy: Mastery of modern testing pyramids (Unit, Integration, Component, Contract, Visual, E2E, Exploratory, Manual).
      • Craftsmanship Culture: Practice and evangelization of Clean Code, code reviews, and development standards.
      • Design System: Ability to manage the implementation and industrialization of a Design System (Storybook, Tokens) across multiple teams.
    • Performance & Reliability
      • Web & App Performance: Obsession with performance metrics and ability to audit/optimize code.
      • Front-End Observability: Mastery of monitoring and observability tools: Realtime User Monitoring (RUM), Application Performance Monitoring (APM). Implementation of alerting and proactive monitoring of application health.
      • Application Security: Knowledge of Front-end security vulnerabilities and authentication best practices. Knowledge of OWASP web and mobile recommendations.
    • Front DevOps & Delivery
      • Specialized CI/CD: Expertise in automating build and deployment pipelines specific to mobile (Bitrise, ...) and Web.
      • Release Management: Mastery of progressive deployment strategies (Feature Flipping, A/B Testing, Canary Release, Progressive rollout).

SOFT SKILLS

  • Pragmatism: Results and solutions-oriented rather than technological dogma.
  • Resilience: Comfortable in a context of transformation and cultural change.
  • Mentoring: Ability to coach, unite, and develop teams daily.

EXPERIENCE

  • 10 years of experience in software development, including at least 3 years in team management (Lead Dev or EM).
  • Proven experience in implementing technical and methodological standards in multi-team and hybrid contexts.
  • Appreciated experience in a banking/insurance, fintech, or critical service context with strong IS constraints.
  • Proven experience with mobile (Stores, app lifecycle) and Web issues.
