About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering and maintenance team to ensure optimal plant performance
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, cost reduction, efficiency improvements)
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards
- Manage capital projects, including equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning
- Oversee maintenance budgets, resource allocation, and contractor management
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to minimise downtime and improve output
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards (e.g., OHSA, ISO standards)
- Implement asset management systems and best practices
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) – advantageous
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (paper, pulp, or packaging preferred)
- At least 3–5 years in a management role
- Strong knowledge of plant maintenance, reliability engineering, and asset management systems
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
