About the role

Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the engineering and maintenance team to ensure optimal plant performance • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, cost reduction, efficiency improvements) • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards • Manage capital projects, including equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning • Oversee maintenance budgets, resource allocation, and contractor management • Collaborate with production and quality teams to minimise downtime and improve output • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards (e.g., OHSA, ISO standards) • Implement asset management systems and best practices Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering • GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) – advantageous • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (paper, pulp, or packaging preferred) • At least 3–5 years in a management role • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance, reliability engineering, and asset management systems • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Key Competencies • Leadership and team development • Strategic thinking and planning • Strong technical and analytical skills • Excellent communication and stakeholder management • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
